Bartha_contemporary is pleased to present a showcase of recent wood reliefs and drawings by New York artist Jill Baroff. Entitled Spatial Measures, the show forms part of a series of concise single-artist presentations focusing on essential aspects of a gallery artist’s recent practice.

Jill Baroff's artistic journey continues to evolve as she explores spatial and sculptural concerns in her work. Her wood reliefs, in particular, are a testament to this evolution. They translate the language of her earlier drawings into three-dimensional space, introducing a vibrant colour palette that amplifies these works' graphical and architectural qualities.

Witness the innovation in Jill Baroff's work as she plays with geometry, creating a new space where unrestricted forms can explore their unruliness. Her practice innovates self-structuring shapes and pays homage to their fundamental forms.

Over the past decade, colour has increasingly played an essential role in Baroff’s work and was first applied in monochromatic hues on corrugated surfaces that capture the tonal shifts of passing light towards a joyful bursting pallet that encapsulates a bold movement in the work.
